*Haven’t watched one episode of “Scandal,” but don’t want to be left out of tonight’s season finale hype?
ABC today released a season two recap, just in time for tonight’s 10 p.m. episode – which star Kerry Washington said was so “shocking” that she had a hard time just speaking the last line of the script during the table read.
Washington’s role as DC fixer Olivia Pope, the lone African American female lead character currently on TV (with NBC’s “Deception” now cancelled), picks up a baton handed off by her hero and “Tyler Perry Presents Peeples” costar Diahann Carroll, who made history in 1968 as the first black actress in television history to star in her own series. “Julia,” for NBC, rocketed to the top of the Nielsen ratings and earned an Emmy nomination in its first season.
As previously reported, Kerry shot “Peeples” before “Scandal” ever existed. But the 36-year-old Bronx native said the close friendship she formed with Carroll during filming came in handy when the Shonda Rhimes drama came a’calling.
