“American Idol” judge Mariah Carey applauds booted contestant Amber Holcomb on Thursday, May 2, 2013.

*“American Idol” judge Mariah Carey will premiere her new song, “#Beautiful,” featuring Grammy winner Miguel, on Thursday night’s results show.

The single, which launched at radio and online on May 6, is the lead track from Carey’s new studio album, due out in the coming months.

Indeed, the soulful duet, which opens with the lines “hop on the back of my bike,” has a catchy hook and a retro sound. According to an announcement by Carey’s label Island Def Jam, her forthcoming album will feature more of the “raw ballads” for which the singer is known, with tracks produced by The-Dream, Jermaine Dupri, Hit-Boy, Rodney Jerkins and Mike WiLL.

The video, directed by Joseph Kahn, will be available on VEVO and YouTube immediately following the premiere.

In other Carey-related “Idol” news, the judge recruited season 12’s three remaining female finalists Kree, Angie and Candice to sing background vocals for a song that may appear on the album. Naturally, the show’s cameras were rolling as the girls collaborated.

This week’s results show, in which the two finalists will be revealed, also features Alicia Keys who’ll perform her new single, “Tears Always Win.” Country singer and season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina is also on the lineup and will perform her new single, “Barefoot and Buckwild.”
