The legendary Lloyd Price

*New York, NY – Singer, songwriter, producer and music legend Lloyd Price, who is perhaps best known for writing and singing such classics as “Personality,” “Lawdy Miss Clawdy,” and “Stagger Lee,”  presents An Evening with Lloyd Price on Saturday, October 5th at 7:30pm at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ.  The show also features as Special Guest Stars Jay Siegel’s Tokens (“The Lion Sleeps Tonight”), Charlie Thomas’ Drifters (“Under the Boardwalk”), Jimmy Clanton (“Venus in Blue Jeans”), and the Dennis Dorrity All Stars.

Currently celebrating his 60th anniversary in the music and entertainment industries and a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame since his induction in 1998 as well as the Bowling Hall of Fame, Mr. Lloyd Price has recently released a new album “I’m Feeling Good,” that’s already on the charts with a title track of the same name about to be released.  This makes him the only artist to experience a resurgence on Billboard where he recently entered the Top 10 after a 20+ year hiatus.  In addition, he has a book currently available called Lawdy Miss Clawdy The True King of the 50’s “The music, authentic, historic TRUTH’ The Lloyd Price Story.  Both the book and album truly represent Mr. Price’s staying power.

Among Lloyd’s accomplishments is the significant role he played in integrating African American musical artists into the mainstream, a fact that is often overlooked, and being the first artist in history to have an all women’s concert held in Memphis, Tennessee.  He also had the largest sold out show consisting of 100,000 people in Australia and performing more than 29 times on the Dick Clark Show.   Over the years Lloyd’s songs have been re-recorded by some of the world’s most talented artists including Elvis Presley who re-recorded “Lawdy Miss Clawdy” 41 times. The Beatles and Bono are also among the long list of musicians who have covered Lloyd’s songs, which continue to break both racial and generational barriers.

Tickets are currently on sale at prices ranging from $45-$55 for this unique entertainment experience at The Count Basie Theatre and can be purchased online by visiting http://www.countbasietheatre.org/calendar/show/show.asp?id=43248153.
