New York State Senator John Sampson is charged with embezzling money from the city’s foreclosures, Wednesday, May 8, 2013.

*We just reported on New York’s dirty politics April 8, with the story of Malcolm A. Smith attempting to bribe his way into the mayoral race with the help of a couple others.

Now, another state senator is going down and others are going with him.

State Sen. John Sampson (D-Brooklyn) thought he would charge the city a gratuity on every foreclosure he managed for the city.  He was the acting attorney, that a foreclosure requires, for several foreclosures that he embezzled from.

His job was simply to take the money from the sale of foreclosed properties and pay off the mortgage and any lawyers and/or creditors, then return the remaining funds to the homeowner.

But NO! Sampson figured there must be a tip in there for him somewhere and his tip equaled $440,000, according to New York Daily News.
