*Talk show co-host and actress Sherri Shepherd tells fans and self-helpers how she defeated diabetes in her new book “Plan D: How to Lose Weight and Beat Diabetes (Even If You Don’t Have it).
She told USA today in a recent interview about how the disease was beginning to take over her body and her life; without a lifestyle change, she would eventually meet her maker.
“If I didn’t have diabetes, I would probably be at the International House of Pancakes eating a stack of pancakes with butter and syrup,” said Sherri. “I would probably be 250 pounds… I wouldn’t be healthy for my son, Jeffrey.”
Once she realized she needed a total health overhaul, she changed her diet and incorporated more exercise.
“I have learned to turn my house into a gym,” she shared. “I do lunges when going to the laundry with my basket. When cooking, I do push-ups against the kitchen counter.”
Not completely over the diabetes, Sherri said she’s determined to keep going in the right direction and plans to beat it once and for all.
“I feel really healthy,” she said. “I have so much energy. I want to live and I’m going to beat this thing. I feel so blessed.”
