*Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys sent letters of support to the judge overseeing Lauryn Hill’s tax evasion case in an attempt to keep her out of jail.

On Monday (May 6), the former Fugees star was sentenced to serve three months in jail after pleading guilty to three charges of failing to file tax returns between 2005 and 2007 – each count carrying a year behind bars.

In an open letter posted to her Tumblr page, Hill expresses gratitude to those who supported her throughout her legal battle.

“I want to extend a sincere thank you to the following people, who wrote letters to the judge on my behalf,” she wrote before listing the names, including Wonder and Keys.

She continued, “I also want to thank all of my family, friends, business associates, and fans who have called, emailed, sent texts, and posted messages of concern, encouragement, and support. I appreciate the well wishes, and I thank you for your prayers.”

Hill must report to prison by July 8.
