*Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete, founders of The HollyRod Foundation, recently hosted a media roundtable to discuss the Foundation’s work and make some exciting announcements.

Parkinson’s and autism has touched the Robinson Peete family in a personal way. Holly’s father, Matt Robinson Jr. struggled with Parkinson’s for 20 years. Joining the Peetes for the gathering were actors Tisha Campbell Martin and Duane Martin. Both couples are close friends and each are parents of a son “on the spectrum” of autism.

Holly briefly spoke about the Foundation’s future plans to create a Compassionate Care Center that would provide services to families who are not able to afford therapy and valuable programs.

Rodney Peete spoke about the challenges as a father to an autistic child and the stress on a marriage. Peete is also the author of “Not My Boy! – A Dad’s Journey with Autism.” Holly and daughter Ryan Elizabeth Peete are the co-authors of “My Brother Charlie.”

Fuhu, Inc., developer of leading kid-safe apps and a sturdy tablet called “nabi” recently named Holly as Brand Ambassador for their family of products made just for kids. She will educate parents on the benefits of integrating a tablet into their children’s lives as a key tool for both learning and entertainment. Holly will also spearhead the company’s autism program, Inspire, as lead strategist. Fuhu is generously donating $1 from the sale of each nabi tablet to fund autism research.

Since 1997, DesignCare has been the annual fundraiser for the foundation and this year’s event is set for July 27, 2013 in Malibu, CA. For more information visit www.HollyRod.org.
