Why: “On the eve of the start of the George Zimmerman murder trial. Its important that our nation not be torn apart in what’s expected to be one of the most closely watched trials in our nations history. We don’t want racial tensions to possibly erupt or polarize parts of our nation as we have seen before in trials such as O. J. Simpson and the L.A.P.D. officers who beat motorist Rodney King nearly to death. The L.A.P.D. officers subsequent verdicts of being found not guilty by an all White jury touched off the greatest civil unrest in our nations history. We as a nation need to start off and stay united during the course of this trial .And no matter what the verdict is in the Zimmerman trial. We have to trust in God,” stated Najee Ali, founder of Project Islamic HOPE. ”
“The National Action Network and Weller Baptist Church will continue to pray and support the family of Trayvon Martin and their fight for justice. Our interfaith prayer vigil is about bringing our community and nation together in what’s expected to be one of the most highly publicized trials in the nation,” Stated Rev K. W. Tulloss branch President of The National Action Network.
