*Here, award winning Nigerian Comic Artist and illustrator TAYO Fatunla, recounts his visit to Cameroon.
He was there in conjunction with Cameroon’s Ministry of Arts and Culture as African cartoonists converged in Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital in West Africa, to feature at the Fescarhy Cartoon Festival now in its 14th year.
I met with aspiring young Cameroonian artists in Yaoundé Cameroon at the grounds of Bois Sainte Anasthasie (This park is dedicated to Mama Eyenga Anasthasie Mvondo- the late mother of President Biya), answering their questions and providing inaccessible drawing materials and Comics and Graphic novels to them.
I raised money to buy art supplies to take to Cameroon for young artists at Camp Artistiqe, a creative Summer Camp Centre for Child Development in Lada-Nkoabang village. Camp Artisque the village camp is run by a hard working Cameroonian lady called Leontine Babal Babeni.
Thanks to Mr. Lee Bailey of EURweb.com who supported the initiative as well.
