*New York’s WBLS’ DJ Snatch 1 and actor Ryan Gentles are coming together for the second time for the Annual Charity Crab Boil & Fish Fry in New York. The fairly new summer event was founded to raise money for children affected by Sickle Cell Anemia.
Inspired by the very personal journey and story of Ryan’s own son, Jahquie Martin, the event will not only raise money, but also inform the community about the disease, share resources information.
Jahquie, like any other 16-year-old boy, was normal – into sports, video games and music. But his life changed when he was diagnosed with the disease that thousands of African Americans live with on the daily.
Those afflicted with the disease spend hours in hospitals, and often live with an unbearable pain.
The event will take place Saturday August 24th from 12 to 6 p.m. at Putnum Triangle Plaza. Admission is free.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Sickle Cell Anemia Clinic at Interfaith Hospital in Brooklyn, New York
