andre 3000*On Friday, during a backstage conversation with a TV exec at the America’s Most Wanted tour in Washington, DC, Andre 3000 revealed his plans to drop a new album in 2014.

The news was picked up by Complex who saw a post on BET President of Music Programming and Specials Stephen Hill‘s Twitter feed.

“Me: hey what’s up? You got the movie coming, right? Andre 3000: yeah…and I got a solo album coming top of the year. Me:*droptofloor*,” Hill tweeted.

However, in an official statement from Andre 3000’s camp to Billboard, his reps threw cold water on the prospect of a 2014 solo release.

“Regarding reports of a specific plan to release an album in early 2014,” the rep says, “There is no official confirmation on that report.”

Fans have been anxiously awaiting new music from Andre. Rumors of a new solo LP have been swirling since the last official Outkast project, “Idlewild,” was released in 2006.

Although we can’t say when his new project will be released, Mr. 3 Stacks was recently spotted in the studio with producer Mike Will Made It.

We can also look to see his portrayal of Jimi Hendrix in the forthcoming biopic “All Is By My Side.” The movie is set to premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival.
