Cuba Gooding Jr*Cuba Gooding Jr. won’t be making “The Trip to Bountiful” anymore. The actor has exited the Broadway revival.

The actor delivered his final performance last night (August 27) at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. Gooding Jr.’s character, Ludie Watts, will now be played by actor Leon Addison Brown beginning tonight (August 28).

Gooding Jr, who also stars in the hit film, “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,”  is exiting the stage production to work on an upcoming film project.

“The Trip to Bountiful” is a revival directed by Michael Wilson and also stars Tony winner Cicely Tyson, who plays Carrie Watts and Vanessa Williams as Jessie Mae Watts.

The play has been nominated for four Tony Awards in the past, including “Best Revival of a Play,” “Best Actress in a Play” for Cicely Tyson’s performance and “Best Featured Actress in a Play” for Condola Rashad‘s role in it.

“The Trip to Bountiful” is scheduled to play on Broadway up until October 9.
