*Russell Simmons posted a video satire last week of Harriet Tubman making a sex tape with her master and now the mogul says a biopic may be in the works.
The three minute video had fans very upset and the NAACP also objected to the skit. Russell did in fact apologized to those he offended and Harriet’s descendants for posting the video.
An online petition went out and gathered more than 1,000 signatures in hopes of having the video removed.
According to Russell, the family members not only let him off the hook for the apparent lack of judgment, they encouraged him to begin producing an actual film about the Underground Railroad conductor.
“The last few dayz I have been speaking to some of the direct descendants of Harriet Tubman,” Simmons tweeted. “They have not only accepted my apology but we agree that we should begin immediately to develop the story of Harriet Tubman.”
The “Def Comedy Jam” creator shared that he has already began producing a miniseries on the life of Frederick Douglass, a former slave who escaped to become an influential abolitionist and author.
Sfter what he did to Harriet Tubman, one can only wonder fate has in store for Frederic Douglass.
Meanwhile Russel Simmons response to all that happening is, “God works in mysterious ways.”
