“Our friend Sean Sasser has died. Our love goes out to his family & husband Michael,” Winick tweeted. “We will miss u so much.”
We first met Sassser in the ‘90s as he dated a star of the “Real World” Pedro Zamora. Zamora was battling with HIV and AIDS during his stint on the show, which MTV gave a lot of coverage to until his death at age 22. His story on the show brought attention to a then taboo topic.
Sasser and Zamora exchanged rings during an episode of the “The Real World.” He also became an AIDS activist leading up to and after Pedro’s death.
*According to sources close to the show, Jay Leno will be leaving “The Tonight Show” on February 6. Leno has been the host of the late night series in 1992. His departure will make way for “Saturday Night Live” alum Jimmy Fallon. The crew of “The Tonight Show” will continue to be paid through September 2014, per the terms of Leno’s contract.
Leno is known for putting away the money he earns from the “Tonight Show” while living off of what he makes from comedy shows and other appearances.
Word is, the host is very generous to his crew having taken a 50 percent pay cut last year to save jobs. The show had apparently laid off about 20 employees.
Fallon currently hosts “Late Night,” which follows “Tonight.” He’s being replaced on that show by fellow “SNL” veteran Seth Meyers.
