*To celebrate the start of the National Football League season, on Sunday, September 15, 2013, McDonald’s launched the all-new Mighty Wings at an exclusive Mighty Wings NFL McDonald’s tailgate and viewing party at Moynihan Station in New York City providing lucky guests with their first taste of the scrumptiously delicious new McDonald’s treat.
Available for a limited time only from mid-September through mid-November, while supplies last, attendees enjoyed McDonald’s new Mighty Wings which are bone-in, crispy chicken wings that deliver a spicy kick with every bite. The kick is good!
“Chicken wings are one of the most commonly ordered items at sit-down restaurants while watching sports,” said McDonald’s USA Marketing Director Leslie Truelove. “By adding Mighty Wings to our menu this fall, we want to bring the popularity and fun of chicken wings to customers looking for any reason to order them – be it during game day or on-the-go.”
The national launch of McDonald’s latest offering took place simultaneously with the hot TV campaign question “Who’s got the #Mighty Wings?” featuring San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Joe Flacco, respectively. In addition to tackling the bold spice of the New Mighty Wings, attendees enjoyed tailgate games, hosted bar, signature McDonald’s Big Macs and French Fries and a halftime set by DJ Ruckus.

The football stars will be featured in the Mighty Wings marketing campaign including TV, merchandising, packaging and digital/social media. Super Bowl XLVII rivals Flacco and Kaepernick will face off again in a commercial – and this time Mighty Wings will be at stake. The ad will ignite a social media campaign that engages customers in a Mighty Wings mystery beginning September 17, 2013. Cruz will also star in a commercial where he shows off his signature dance moves.
