*The premiere screening and launch party for “Verses and Flow” was held last week at the Pacific Design Center in Hollywood, CA.
“Verses and Flow” has been called the real life version of the movie “Love Jones (1997).” The variety show features prolific poets, spoken word performers and musical acts in R&B, Soul and Hip-Hop.
Season three is jammed packed with award winning musical artists, Jill Scott, Mary Mary, Tony Rich, Kenny Lattimore, Faith Evans, Anthony Hamilton, and Avant. There are over 35 poets on the roster speaking about racial education, war and terrorism, sexual orientation, and love and hate.
Atlanta native, Omari Hardwick returns as host for his second season. The actor revealed to EURweb associate Fahnia Thomas that this season is different than the past seasons because fans will get to see him perform more. Fahnia also caught up with some of the attendees on the red carpet … actress Gabrielle Union (“Being Mary Jane”) says it’s important to support the arts, Angell Conwell (“Young and the Restless”) says she might become a spoken word performer, and Robert Christopher Riley (“Hit the Floor”) bust a freestyle.
Additional artist performing during the new season are Bell Biv DeVoe, Bridget Kelly, RaVaughn, Andra Day, Vivian Green, BJ the Chicago Kid, and Raheem DeVaughn.
According to Lexus, “Verses and Flow,” is the brainchild of Lexus executives and was born from their Lexus Listening Lounges. The show was developed to reach African-American consumers in a passionate way and to meet them where they live via music and spoken word.
The NAACP Image Award-nominated “Verses and Flow” will feature four additional episodes and was produced by Lexus, Walton Isaacson and McMann, Tate and Stephens. You can watch Verses and Flow on Wednesday nights on TV One at 9/8c.
