seth mitchell & chris arreola

Seth Mitchell (on the canvas) and Chris Arreola

*Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola made a stunning comeback last Saturday night with a knockout over Seth Mitchell at two minutes and some change in the first round out at the Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino in Indio, Calif.

And folks, it’s not what happened that matters the most, it’s how it happened.

Arreola backed up all the trash talk that led up to this bout and literally destroyed Mitchell with ease in a short lived contest. And in the process made a statement to all the naysayers that he’s now ready to go to war with all that are out there  especially Bermane Stiverne, and Vitali Klitschko (two of his three losses were to them).

I got to tell you something folks, I’ve never seen him more focused, and in this top condition as he was Saturday night.

After what I saw I think he deserves another shot at the title.

On the undercard we saw Rafael Marquez get go down and get knocked out for the first time in his career by a young and hungry Efran Esquivias.

This was one heck of contest as these two tangled with each other back and forth throughout the bout.

Marquez showed his opponent just about everything in the book of boxing. And this cagey veteran wasn’t giving up nothing, and taking no prisoners as this bout could possibly be a fight of the year candidate.

It seems though that father time is something that he may not be able to beat.

This is the brother of Juan Manuel Marquez who  is set to go against Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas in October.

And as we continue to go into the final days of fight week of Mayweather vs “Canelo” Alvarez, there is much anticipation in the air leading up to this big event.

This could be the “One” fight that could break all records. As I travel throughout So. Calif., I couldn’t help to notice that there’s so many venues that are now pumping up this one, that it’s incredible.

People who can’t make it to Las Vegas, will be able to see it on close circuit just about everywhere.

And least I forget, Shawn Porter is set to go against Julio Dias for the second time in a main event bout on this Thursday night at the MGM Grand Conference Center in the Premier Ballroom.
This is an event that will be telecast live on Fox Sports 2 and Fox Deportes.

Shawn Porter is hoping things go a lot better than the last time these two tangled. As I always say, we’ll see what happens.
