Actress Angela Bassett arrives at the premiere of FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven” at Pacific Design Center on October 5, 2013 in West Hollywood

*On the eve of her debut in FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven,” Millennium Films has announced that Angela Bassett is among the names set for its forthcoming thriller “Survivor.”

Milla Jovovich, Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson are also in the film.

Jovovich plays a State Department employee newly posted to the American embassy in London, where she is charged with stopping terrorists from getting into the U.S. That puts her right in the line of fire and she is targeted for death and framed for crimes. Discredited, she is forced to go on the run while she tries to clear her name and stop a large-scale terrorist attack set for New Year’s Eve in Times Square.

No word yet on the nature of Bassett’s role.

James McTeigue will direct starting January 20 in London. Charles Winkler and Irwin Winkler are producing. Phil Shelby wrote the script.

Meanwhile, “American Horror Story: Coven,” co-starring Bassett  as the witch Marie Laveau, premieres Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 10 p.m. on FX.

In the premiere episode, “Bitchcraft,” a young girl, Zoe, is shattered to discover she possesses a strange genetic affliction tracing back to the dark days of Salem. Zoe is whisked away to Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, a mysterious school in New Orleans devoted to safeguarding the few remaining descendants who share this unique bloodline. Harboring a secret agenda, Fiona Goode, the most powerful witch of their generation, returns to town, reigniting old rivalries with the Coven’s deadly enemies, the Voodoo.

A new trailer emerged this week, in which Laveau warns: “She done mess with the wrong witch.” She later adds, “Too late for tears, damage is done.”
