*The “Love Thy Neighbor” star whose name was mentioned by “Saturday Night Live” regular Jay Pharoah as someone who should be considered for the cast is now speaking out.
As previously reported, “SNL” made headlines this week after comments from regular Kenan Thompson sparked debate about the lack of black females in the cast In the show’s 38 year history, there have only been four.
Pharoah said he pushed producers to hire comedienne Darmirra Brunson of Tyler Perry’s OWN series “Love Thy Neighbor,” but head honcho Lorne Michaels decided to pass.
Brunson says she is grateful for Pharoah’s support, but the truth is – there’s a huge talent pool to choose from, and almost everyone gets passed over in “SNL” auditions, no matter the race or sex.
