*Kevin Hart, whose BET show “Real Husbands of Hollywood” returns for a new season on Tuesday (Oct. 15), has a number of film projects set to roll out in the coming months.
One of them is a comedy called “Grudge Match,” which stars Robert DeNiro and Sylvester Stallone as aging boxers who train to fight one final bout. Hart plays Dante Slate, Jr., the promoter who gets the two fighters back in the ring.
Kim Bassinger, Alan Arkin and Jon Bernthal also star in the comedy. “All huge accomplished actors,” Hart said of the cast. adding the experience could have been intimidating had he not actively suppressed his inner urge to fawn.
“They all waked away saying, ‘Kev, you’re beyond great to work with,’ because I was just myself,” he told EURweb. “I didn’t try to be somebody else, I didn’t come and put everybody on a pedestal because of who they were and praise them. I came as a fan – ‘Hey man, big fan.’ – but I had a job to do. I was working. I’m here just like you are. I got hired and we’re gonna make a great film and I’m about the project.
“When you have that mindset in Hollywood, you come across different. I’m not on a high horse, I don’t think I’m bigger or better than anybody else.”
Below, Hart talks specifically about his experience with “Grudge Match” with DeNiro.
