*Michael Strahan and his fiancee Nicole Murphy have been renting a $20 million apartment in Beverly Hills for a minute, but sources tell Confidenti@l that they took a third gander at a $25 million NYC penthouse last week — directly across the street from Strahan’s ABC gig, “Live with Kelly and Michael.”
The apartment, a duplex with killer Central Park views, is at 150 Columbus Ave., already home to such folk as Eagles bassist Timothy Schmit, MTV founder Bob Pittman, PR mogul Ronn Torossian and sportscaster Marv Albert. The building, also known as One Lincoln Square, was the first of three towers built across from the performing-arts center in the mid-’90s, helping draw the wealthy to a once-scary corner of the upper West Side.
The space Strahan and Murphy are looking at has 5,500 square feet and 10 rooms, including five bedrooms. It’s been on the market for a couple of months, now but real-estate sources say Strahan was immediately drawn to it because of its location. But Strahan may want to act quickly — Word has it that Hollywood star Bradley Cooper looked at the same apartment recently.
It would be a smart move for the New York Giants legend, whose current New York base is just blocks away. He’d be taking another page out of the Regis Philbin playbook: Reege, his predecessor on “Live!”, lives next door at 101 W. 67th and enjoyed a brisk walk to work each morning.
TMZ reported in August that Strahan and Murphy splashed the cash to rent the Beverly Hills manse after selling their Bel Air home for $11 million. They made a tidy profit after on that deal, having purchased the Bel Air property for $7.9 million a year earlier.
Murphy, ex-wife of comedian Eddie Murphy, is currently executive producing and starring in VH1’s “Hollywood Exes.”
