*After the Sacramento Kings awarded DeMarcus Cousins a new four-year $62 million contract extension, many wondered if it was a smart move for the franchise considering his past issues on and off the court.
Well it seems as though Cousins is looking to do more good off the court; because during the presser where his contract extension was being discussed, he revealed his plans to donate $1 million of his new contract to local charities.
It was clear that as the press conference came to a close that Cousins had something to say, and owners Vivek Ranadive and general manager Pete D’Alessandro noticed this and urged the athlete to say what was on his mind. He did exactly that by announcing the large donation that will go towards Sacramento families in need of assistance.
It came off as a very selfless act and something he was doing from the heart and not a “praise me” moment. Once he made the announcement he spoke to the awaiting media members.
It wasn’t made clear how the funds would be distributed and its possible Cousins doesn’t even know yet; but we know it will do a lot of good.
