Debbie Joyce

*I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a wonderful dinner and intriguing Jazz entertainment in a relaxed and welcoming venue called Pips.

It was a great combination in a setting where you’re bound to meet some wonderful people too. The featured artist added to the aura and put the mood into words with her smooth vocal renderings.

Synonymous with the famous Monterey Jazz Festival, Debbie Joyce is a seasoned Jazz- oriented vocalist. Born in Providence, Rhode Island to vocalist Al Joyce and Elizabeth Dias, Debbie moved to the Monterey Peninsula at an early age. Her grandfather, Professor B.L. Joyce, was a well known music professor who taught many of the Jazz and R & B greats of today. She is the niece of the legendary song stylist and Grammy winner Nancy Wilson.

Debbie was a featured singer with renowned bass player, the late, Leroy Vinnegar. She did numerous demos for Motown’s Jobete Music Publishing as well as several on-air commercials. For many years she was the featured artist at the Del Monte Hyatt House and the Monterey Holiday Inn located in Monterey, California.

On Wednesday, November 20th you too can enjoy the Smooth Jazz stylings of Debbie Joyce at Pips on La Brea where she frequently performs. Also featured is The Tony Campodonico Trio with Tony Campodonico on Keys, Paul Morin on Bass, and Jon Stuart, Drums. Show times are 8PM to 10PM.

Pips is located at 1356 South La Brea Avenue at San Vicente. Phone: (323) 954 – PIPS ( 7477)

There is no cover charge, but reservations are highly recommended. Dinner is served from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
