*Judy Smith, the inspiration for ABC’s “Scandal” and an executive producer on the series, is taking her talents to CBS.

The real DC fixer has teamed with “CSI” executive producer Carol Mendelsohn for “The Advocate,” a drama that centers on a former doctor who has found her calling as a medical advocate. She works on behalf of patients and their loved ones, solving medical crises and mysteries and guaranteeing people the care they deserve.

CBS Television Studios has picked up the script from writer Ayelet Waldman, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Additionally, Waldman will executive produce alongside Mendelsohn and Carol Mendelsohn Productions president Julie Weitz. Smith will also executive produce.

For Smith, “The Advocate” marks her latest foray into television following the breakout success of ABC’s “Scandal.” The Kerry Washington political fixer drama is based on the career of crisis manager Smith, whose clients have included Monica Lewinsky, Wesley Snipes and Michael Vick, among others.

In addition to her work on “Scandal,” Smith also was a consulting producer on “Basketball Wives.”
