slave11n-9-webNominees for the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning, with “12 Years a Slave” and “American Hustle” tied for the most with seven nods each. Among the haul for “12 Years a Slave” were acting noms for Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong’o

Also picking up acting nominations were Idris Elba for both “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” and his BBC series “Luther,” Kerry Washington for “Scandal,” Don Cheadle for “House of Lies” and Barkhad Abdi for “Captain Phillips.”

Fox’s new cop comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” co-starring Andre Braugher, will compete against “The Big Bang Theory,” ”Girls,” ”Modern Family” and “Parks and Recreation” for best comedy series.

Lee Daniels‘ The Butler” and “Fruitvale Station,” early award season favorites, received no nominations.

The nominees were unveiled live Thursday morning from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., by actors Aziz Ansari, Zoe Saldana and Olivia Wilde, joined by 2014′s Miss Golden Globe Sosie Bacon.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are returning to co-host the Golden Globes ceremony, which will be held Jan. 12 in Los Angeles.
