The organization accused him of anti-Semitism after comments he made in a radio interview with the “Breakfast Club” on New York’s Hot 105 FM.
If you didn’t hear it, in the interview, Ye said “Black people don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people.”
Hmm, to a lot of people the statement doesn’t exactly sound like a diss, but quite the opposite. Well for whatever reason, the Anti-Defamation League called it “classic anti-Semitism.” They also added: “There it goes again, the age-old canard that Jews are all-powerful and control the levers of power in government.”
In defense of himself and his comment, Kanye – while speaking with Chicago radio station B96 – he characterized what he said as an “ignorant compliment” and said it was misconstrued.
“I don’t know how being told that you have money is like an insult,” Kanye said. “That would be like if somebody complimented black guys and said, ‘All black guys have big penises.’ You don’t want to be the black guy who raises his hand and says like, ‘That’s not true. I have proof!’”
Good one kanye. Good one.
Meanwhile, other newsworthy items coming out of the interview include Kanye mentioning that he’d like to record with Frank Ocean, the Weeknd, and James Blake.
Also, for those wondering what his next move is with his new Adidas line, he says he’s not only working on shoes, but men’s and women’s clothing. He told B96 that the items will be on sale in September 2014, and that Adidas will give him “stand-alone stores.”
