*Remember that photo of the Russian editor-in-chief of Garage magazine, Dasha Zhukova, seated on the “Black Woman Chair?”
Well as you know, that magazine editor got hell for posing for the shot, and moreso, for releasing it on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday of all days. And while Zhukova called herself apologizing every which way, many folks didn’t buy it.
Now add to that one gay Russian artist who took his anger a step further: Alexander Kargaltsev, a New York City-based photographer and gay activist, decided to stage his own response to the “outrageous and tasteless” portrait with an image of a naked black man seated on a naked white man, whose legs are folded up to create a “chair.”
