Jennifer Hudson*Jennifer Hudson has a lot of positivity in her life these days.

She dishes on the awesomeness of Michelle Obama‘s birthday bash and about her upcoming concert series.

It’s no ordinary concert series; it’s a cruise ship show, which believe it or not, Hudson is not unfamiliar with.

“I used to work on a cruise ship, a long time ago,” said Hudson before performing at a Carnival news conference in midtown Manhattan. “That’s what I did before I did ‘American Idol.'”

She tested her singing skills while abroad the Disney cruise ship.

“Two days later, I went in and auditioned for ‘American Idol.'”

The concert series is through Carnival Cruise Lines called Carnival Live. She calls it full circle for her.

She’ll be performing June 18 on Carnival Ecstasy and June 19 on Carnival Breeze  in Cozumel, Mexico.

Other performers are Daughtry,  Jewel, Lady Antebellum, LeAnn Rimes, Martina McBride and Olivia Newton-John among many others.

But her new headlining news doesn’t come without some partying. Hudson shared with AJ Calloway of “Extra” about how she helped the First Lady Michelle Obama celebrate her 50th birthday last weekend.

“Oh my god it was so fun, they know how to throw a party.”  Jennifer then asked Calloway if she could show him how the President dances and proceeds to show his moves then says “I mean like Oh My God Mr. President.”

As for a gift, she continued with, “What can you give the First Lady other than being there to celebrate her on her…I don’t even know if they let you bring it through security honey. I brought her a gift, mam you want to leave that here please … You don’t try it.”
