Hart’s new comedy with Ice Cube,Ride Along,” is leaving skid marks on the competition and is headed towards a Martin Luther King Weekend box office bonanza.

“Ride Along” is on pace to easily land at #1 with a $48 million take. The sorta fish out of water/buddy cop flick is set to best the $46.1 million record set by “Cloverfield” in 2008.

“Ride Along’s” $41 million three-day total is the best ever in January and marks Ice Cube and Kevin Hart’s highest openings as well, according to TheWrap.

As far as the other films that opened this weekend, the animated “Nut Job” is battling “Lone Survivor” for 2nd ahead of “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit”

Meanwhile, the Afghan War drama “Lone Survivor” that exploded for a stunning $38 million win last weekend, is still running hot. It is on pace to finish with $27.5 million for the long weekend.
