*CBS is squeezing out yet another spinoff of its top rated “NCIS” franchise.

“NCIS New Orleans” will premiere this spring with a two-part backdoor pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Scott Bakula, “JAG’s” Zoe McLellan and CCH Pounder will topline the series, which centers on the NCIS New Orleans office that handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle.

Pounder will play Dr. Wade, the Jefferson Parish Medical Examiner, who is as eccentric as she is smart. The character is described as worldly, intuitive and incredibly connected to Louisiana.

McLellan and Bakula, who play special agents.

“NCIS” showrunner Gary Glasberg and star Mark Harmon will executive produce the spinoff. Spinoff “NCIS Los Angeles” premiered in September 2009 with LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell in the lead roles.
