Journalist Miki Turner interviews Cicely Tyson for the Lifetime film “The Trip to Bountiful,” premiering March 8 at 9 p.m.

*It took a while but when Tony-Award winning actress Cicely Tyson finally entered the room, resplendent in a two-piece white skirt and top, it was immediately apparent why so many adore her.

Tyson, 80, hosted a series of 1-on-1 interviews to talk about her new Lifetime movie, “The Trip To Bountiful.” The film, which was originally released in the ’80s starring Oscar winner Geraldine Page, won Tyson her first Tony last year for best actress in a drama. The Lifetime movie costars Vanessa Williams (“Ugly Betty”), Blair Underwood and Keke Palmer. It’s the story of an older woman who lives with her son (Underwood) and his high-maintenance intolerant wife (Williams), but wants desperately to see her hometown one last time.

Tyson, who is also an Emmy winner (“The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman”) and Oscar nominee (“Sounder”) talked about playing the role on stage and on film, her career, finding roles but gave us no love when asked about her Oscar waves this weekend!

“The Trip to Bountiful” debuts on Lifetime March 8 at 9 p.m. EST. Watch the trailer below.
