Universal’s Non-Stop starring Liam Neeson is action packed, in theaters February 28, 2014
* The newest Universal Pictures release, “Non-Stop,” starring Academy/Golden Globe Award nominee Liam Neeson (“Darkman”) is action packed as the entire film takes place on an international flight from New York to London.
Neeson is Bill Marks a US Federal Air Marshall trying to stop a hijacking from an unknown source on the plane using text messages – the ransom is $150 million.
Non-Stop is in theaters February 28 and is Rated PG – 13.
The mystery/thriller doesn’t disappoint for it is full of action and keeps the audience guessing as to whom on the plane is demanding ransom. The money is to be transferred into an account in Marks’ name and as a result TSA – and the media – has labeled him the hijacker. It is a race against time for if the ransom demand is not met someone is killed every 20 minutes. That is not the worst; later on he finds a bomb on the plane so the tasks become minimizing the blast and/or land the plane.
Assisting him in the investigation is his seating partner Jen Summers, played by Academy Award nominee/Golden Globe winner Julianne Moore (Game Change) and a stewardess Nancy, played by Golden Globe/Emmy Award nominated Michelle Dockery.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and produced by Joel Silver, Alex Heineman, Steve Richards and Andrew Rona, Non-Stop also stars Academy/Golden Globe nominee Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave), Nate Parker, Corey Stoll, Omar Metwally, Scoot McNairy, Linus Roache, Shea Whigham, Anson Mount, Jason Butler Harner, Frank Deal, Bar Paly, Quinn McColgan and Corey Hawkins. The screenplay is written by John W. Richardson, Ryan Engle and Christopher Roach.
Rock of Ages returns to the Warner Theatre March 2, 2014 for one night only, co-starring DC native Ashley McManus
*“I auditioned twice,” said Ashley McManus (Dreamgirls, Hairspray) part of the cast of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages arriving at the Warner Theatre March 2, 2014 for one night (two shows) in her hometown of Washington, DC. “The first time I was contracted and on tour with Dreamgirls.”
The musical is produced by Phoenix Entertainment an international theatrical production and Management Company (The Color Purple, Gypsy). Ashley plays one of the main waitresses in the musical set in 1987 on the Los Angeles Sunset Strip. The play is about a small-town girl Sherry Christian, with big dreams that falls in love with a legendary Rock star, Drew Boley, while working at a Rock club. Rock of Ages is funny and has tons of feel-good music of hit songs by rockers Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister and Whitesnake.
“She is a waitress in the bar and best friends with Sherry,” said Ashley about her role. “I enjoyed this role a lot more. In Dreamgirls I was not on stage a lot… I was back up.”
Rock of Ages is directed by Tony Award nominee Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by Kelly Devine. It is based on the book by Chris D’Arienzo with original arrangements by David Gibbs and orchestrations by Ethan Popp. Rock of Ages is the 31st longest running Broadway musical that features 28 classic Rock tunes that include some of my favorites “Don’t Stop Believing,” “We Built This City,” “Harden My Heart,” and “I Want To Know What Love Is.”
