*“Girlfriends” vet Tracee Ellis Ross is set to star opposite Anthony Anderson in his untitled ABC pilot (formerly “Black-ish”). The project from ABC Studios, Laurence Fishburne’s Cinema Gypsy and Principato Young centers on an upper-middle-class black man (Anderson) who struggles to raise his children with some sense of cultural identity despite constant contradictions and obstacles coming from his liberal wife, old-school father, and his own assimilated, color-blind kids.
Tone Bell (“Whitney”) has been set as a regular in “Bad Judge,” NBC’s single-camera comedy pilot starring and executive produced by Kate Walsh. The project centers on a hard-living, sexually unapologetic woman (Walsh) who plays with the law, and whose life on the edge is constantly in balance as she also happens to be a judge in the criminal court system. Bell plays Edward, the bailiff in Rebecca’s courtroom who gets swept up in her flawed, impulsive and chaotic personal life.
*Lucien Laviscount (Episodes) has been cast in the “Supernatural” spinoff/backdoor pilot “Supernatural: Tribes,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The spinoff — set to air as a planted episode on April 29 — is described as a drama about the various mafia-esque monster families that unknowingly to humans “run” the underbelly of Chicago and who are being tracked by a newly minted Hunter who is trying to stop them. Laviscount will star as Ennis Roth, a police academy trainee whose fiancée is killed in the crossfire of the monster war. It inspires him to learn the truth about what lurks in the shadows and become a monster-hunter.
