According to the Daily News, Whilby’s destructive run started when he was kicked out of the party. He couldn’t locate his limousine and reportedly became enraged. The super of a nearby apartment building reported Whilby began randomly banging on doors.

“He was sweating like a mad dog,” said Victor Vega, who turned over surveillance video to police. “He had to be high on drugs. He started kicking and banging the doors.”

Not far from there, in the basement of the Maritime Hotel, witnesses say he spotted an idling, unattended truck and stole it.
