Pharrell Williams

*You might be interested to know that the big ol’ Smokey The Bear/Arbys hat that Pharrell Williams sported at the Grammys and the NBA All-Star game is being put on the auction block.

Last time we checked, the eye-catching head piece by Vivienne Westwood was getting bids upwards of $10,500 on eBay.

And in case you’re wondering, all of the proceeds from the auction are benefitting “From One Hand to Another,” an organization that Pharrell founded in 2008 to help children “by giving them the tools and resources to meet their unique potential.”

The auction’s description says, “Bid on the hat that took the 2014 Grammy Awards and social media by storm,” and describes it as a “mountain” hat. In addition to a giant hat, the winner will also get a letter of authenticity.

Showing his sense of humor and marketing savvy, Pharrell announced the auction by taking a jab back at Arby’s, the fast-food sandwich makers who use a giant cowboy hat as their logo and had tweeted at him during the Grammys, “Hey Pharrell, can we have our hat back?” He tweeted at Arby’s yesterday: “Hey Arby’s, you want my hat? Now’s your chance.”

The auction will close on March 2nd at 5 p.m. PST. Bidders must pre-qualify “to ensure a safe and fair auction.”
