*It’s that time of year again for some jazz!
The 9th annual Jazz In The Gardens Music Festival is taking place this weekend.
Funny man D.L. Hughley is hosting the festival while plenty of today’s greatest artists are performing.
According to theGrio.com, Mayor Oliver Gilbert III sees the potential growth in business in Miami Gardens due to the festival this year — causing another annual spike in business.
“We’d like for it to grow and have the same impact as New Orleans Jazz Festival has for Louisiana,” Mayor Gilbert said.
But it was just a few years ago Miami Gardens had quite a crime rate, but he credits the festival for the city’s growth.
“We can’t satisfy everybody, but there is something for everyone to enjoy when you come down here for the festival.”
And part of this is the festival’s family-friendly atmosphere.
“It’s the truest type of experience you can find,” stated the mayor. “From what started off as an event with just 1100 people, has become so much. The sky is the limit.”
The festival takes place this weekend on March 15 and March 16.
