*Darren Sharper’s release request from a Los Angeles jail has been denied as authorities continue to investigate his multiple rape accusations across the country
The retired NFL player has been behind bars since turning himself in to LA authorities on Feb. 27 after an arrest warrant was issued by prosecutors in New Orleans in connection to two allegations of rape, which reportedly took place in September.
He has yet to be formally charged in the Louisiana case, but his legal woes escalated on Wednesday when officers in Arizona slapped him with two counts of sexual assault relating to claims he drugged and attacked two women there in November.
The former Green Bay Packers star returned to Los Angeles County Superior Court Thursday morning (Mar 13) and asked a judge to free him from custody and allow him to remain on house arrest – but the motion was rejected as a result of the Arizona charges, which are “non-bondable.”
The 38 year old was ordered to remain behind bars until his next hearing, which is set for March 24.
Sharper has already pleaded not guilty to claims he drugged and then raped two women in L.A. If convicted in that case, he faces more than 30 years behind bars.
