Cali Swag District brought back his trademark dance moves in the hit, “Teach Me How to Dougie” in 2010 and since, it’s been used to help kids get active and make healthier choices.
TheGrio interviewed the hip hop icon and he dished on hip hop, health and the White House.
It seems like the first lady and Fresh have quite a friendship — sharing a mutual love for hip hop and health.
In 2011, the first lady had shown everyone she could Dougie. She did a surprise visit to Alice Deal Middle School for her “Let’s Move” Initiative.
But the “Let’s Move” Initiative didn’t end there. Fresh joined forces with Ashanti, Travis Barker, Jordin Sparks and Run DMC for a “Let’s Move” album to help kids fight obesity, and get or remain healthy and active.
The White House definitely embraces hip hop. Fresh recently performed at the Partnership for a Healthier America Summit in Washington, D.C.
And he’s the vice president of Hip Hop Public Health foundation.
So as the first lady and the White House’s friend, it only makes sense to use hip hop to help health initiatives.
