*We’re well aware of Kelis‘ singing skills, but now that she’s got her culinary degree, we’re learning how she’s also making a name for herself as a chef as well.
As you’ve probably heard, the music/entertainment/technology festival that is SXSW just concluded for this year and the singer-turned-Le Cordon Bleu chef and her food truck was on the scene.
On a mission, Kelis brought her musical and culinary talents to SXSW in Austin, Texas to promote her upcoming album “Food,” due out April 22. Dang, makes us wish we were there ’cause she served free gourmet meals on Thursday and Friday.
According to Rap Up, the singer/chef, who stars in her own special on the Cooking Channel, prepared a menu of duck confit sliders, shredded beef with wild cherry BBQ sauce, coleslaw, and jerk ribs in honor of her single.
There was no shortage of folks who stood in line to get a taste of the jerk ribs that according to Kelis, “literally fall off the bone.”
“Honestly, best rib I’ve eaten. Sorry mom,” wrote one happy customer after trying her ribs.
And yes, in addition to cooking food, she also performed tracks from “Food” at several showcases, according to Rap Up.
