*For some reason, a poll was taken to find out which of the two main political parties agrees more with “12 Years a Slave” being named best picture at the Academy Awards.

It’s no surprise that more Democrats than Republicans welcomed the idea of the movie getting the top award.

Public Policy Polling surveyed 1,152 registered voters via telephone and Internet. In all 53% of respondents who identify as Democrats said they agreed with the selection of “12 Years a Slave,” while only 15% of the Republican participants answered the same way.

Also 23% of the Republicans went on to say that they disagreed with the selection, while only 10% of Democrats did as well.

The majority of respondents, 52%, answered “not sure.”
