He posts daily quotes and/or remarks on his Facebook fan page, which has more than 200,000 “likes.” He’s married with two small children and has appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “The Tyra Banks’ Show.”
Generally speaking, Gaskins’ Facebook page promotes very positive messages to women about what to look for in a potential mate. But on March 17, a message he received from someone, whose name he did not disclose, upset some of his fans.
The message reads: “Someone in-boxed me and said… ‘This is to the SINGLE MOTHERS.. If your child’s father wouldn’t give you his last name then why did you give your child that man’s last name? You’re giving that man a false sense of fatherhood. If you have to take care of your child alone then your child should have your last name, not an absent man’s.’” The controversial remark attained more than 44,000 shares, 2,400 comments, and 27,000 “likes.”
