jay-z & radio host star*Jay Z’s past as a drug dealer is nothing new to fans. Listen to almost any song from him and it’s referenced directly or indirectly.

What may be news  is the identity of one of his client’s, Shot97 Radio show host Star. According to AllHipHop.com, the radio personality shared details about what kind of dealer Hov was on Thursday as he revealed that before impacting the rap game, Jay Z once sold him cocaine in the ‘80’s.

“Back in the late ‘80s, I went to this man on a few occasions, hand-to-hand. He had the good sh*t,” said Star, who also acknowledged how competitive the environment was for dealers back in the day. “Now his sh*t wasn’t as popping as the West Indians over in the 90s and in Flatbush. Them Shower Posse n*ggas must have had that shit shipped in from Columbia or some f*ckin’ where.”

Despite the comp, Star confessed that Jay Z was a generous drug dealer who looked out for him when he was short on payment. So much so that he “extended credit to a coke head in the wee hours.”

Jay Z’s time as a drug dealer has played a role in shaping his business sense. The rap mogul, who has a reported net worth of $550 million, offered a glimpse of the connection in an October 2013 Vanity Fair cover story, saying “I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer. To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up.”
