*Patina Miller, a best actress Tony winner for Broadway’s “Pippen,” has been cast in the Morgan Freeman-produced CBS drama pilot “Madam Secretary,” reports Deadline.com.

Written by Barbara Hall and directed by Dave Semel, the series explores the personal and professional life of maverick female Secretary of State Elizabeth McGill (Tea Leoni) as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life.

Miller will play Daisy, McGill’s press coordinator.

Hall is exec producing with Semel and Revelation’s Lori McCreary, Morgan Freeman and Tracey Mercer.

Miller is best known for originating the role of Deloris Van Cartier in the 2009 West End and 2011 Broadway productions of “Sister Act.”
