*The Wu-Tang Clan are back with new material from their long-overdue new album “A Better Tomorrow”.
The first track, titled “Keep Watch,” hit the web Beyonce-style Tuesday night (without warning). Singer Nathaniel sings in the chorus and long-time Wu-Tang collaborator DJ Mathematics produced the track.
In their own words, Wu-Tang describe the new work as “Classic 90s Mono Beat, infused with lyrical dart throwing content,” reports Billboard.
“A Better Tomorrow,” which has been in the oven for years, is available to pre-order at the Wu Music Group Website, which carries a message to explain the set is “in the works and almost ready to ship.”
All the core Wu-Tang members appear to be involved in the new project, though Raekwon has remained absent throughout. Anyone who thinks he’s about to jump back on board should “keep dreaming,” he tweeted.
In an interview with AP published last year, RZA said “everybody did their verses except Raekwon. He hasn’t turned in his verses yet. I don’t know if he’s still trying to find the vibe of the music. We have to talk about it before it becomes too late. But he hasn’t come to the table yet.”
The album marks their first release since “8 Diagrams” arrived in 2007. “This is the first album we’ve recorded in seven years,” RZA said last year. “And we can’t wait seven years for another album.”
