*Poor guy! He was so close, but not really… and then, won anyways.
Indiana University freshman Julian Batts, mispronounced, “Mythological Hero Achilles,” which cost him the $1 million win on “Wheel of Fortune.”
Although he still won the show, he had quite a bumpy ride — solving puzzles, but mispronouncing the phrases.
Batts mispronounced “A-kill-ease” as “A-chill-us.” Duh!
“It just kind of hit me like a train and I really didn’t know how to react to it – the game continued on and [another contestant from] Texas A&M, she solved it and it hit me right then and there that it was Achilles,” he said.
But that wasn’t his only mistake. He mis-guessed “on-the-spot dicespin,” which should’ve been “on the spot decision.”
“I didn’t feel like I made a mistake but I feel like I solved the puzzle entirely and all I had to do was read it and I just went for it and I did my best.”
Nevertheless, he won the game — winning $11,700.
“It was a dream,” he added of being on the show, “and it was one of the greatest experiences I’ve accomplished so far.”
