*Charleston, S.C. – McDonald’s Choir Showcase (MCS) has always been a star-studded celebration inspiring and unifying the South Carolina and Charleston communities in music and the arts. Every year, thousands of guests await spirit filled performances by the region’s top choirs, worship groups and nationally-acclaimed recording artists. This year’s headlines include Grammy Award-winners Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole and Le’Andria Johnson, and Jessica Reedy.
In its seventh year, the event founders, Gerald Footman and Tia Brewer- Footman of Footman-Brewer Enterprises, seized an opportunity to take the experience to another level. MCS now has evolved from a one-day event to a multi-day weekend experience during Mother’s Day Weekend, May 10 and 11th.
Kicking-off this year’s event, is a Music Ministry Summit featuring a series of clinics and sessions open to aspiring musicians seeking to enter the music industry. Sessions will be conducted by internationally acclaimed gospel artists, singers and songwriters including Kevin LeVar (“A Heart that Forgives”) and Ashaala Shanae (“Champion,” Shekinah Glory Ministries). Attendees will learn key insights on the ins and outs of the record industry, and have an opportunity to network with industry experts from World Music House and Meachum Clarke. Sound engineers, studio experts and international lighting production firms will also be available. Fox Music House, Hammond Organs USA and Yamaha North America have partnered with FB Enterprises to bring this exclusive event to the MCS Weekend. The Summit will take place on Saturday May 10 at 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $20 (plus a service fee). Visit www.choirshowcase.com to register and for more information.
“The McDonald’s Choir Showcase Weekend Experience is more than just an expansion of faith-based events, but a reflection of my heart’s passion in creating Christian fellowship in a family atmosphere and bringing exceptional gospel music by exceptional artists to the community,” said Gerald. “I realized after seven years, one day wasn’t enough to contain the God-inspired vision. Now communities can enjoy more days of the best in faith-based activity.”
The weekend will culminate with the annual McDonald’s Choir Showcase on Sunday, May 11 at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. A pre-show in the lobby will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by the debut of returning sponsor Boeing’s employee-based gospel choir, Elevated Voices, on the main stage at 7:00 p.m. The main event will begin at 7:20 p.m. In addition Clark-Cole, Johnson and Reedy, guests will enjoy performances by the nine finalists representing the Charleston and surrounding communities.
