*Although she may not have made it on to the official cast announcement for the highly anticipated “Star Wars: Episode VII,” a galaxy far, far away could still be in the future for Lupita Nyong’o.
Nyong’o isn’t the only actress whose name has been brought up concerning “Episode VII.” A report alluded to British actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers being cast in what was said to be a “major role” in the film: “… that of a young black or mixed-race woman who may be a descendant of Jedi Knight Ben Kenobi.”
The report also mentioned that an “extended casting search” took place in London earlier this month for the part, and from the looks of it, Maisie was Abrams’ pick.
Like Nyong’o, Richardson’s name wasn’t listed in the official cast list, which was announced earlier today. With this comes the start of speculation as to the ladies were out of the picture, and the above role of a young black or mixed-race woman was either being reimagined, or cut out of the movie altogether.
Featuring original “Star Wars” actors, Mark Hamil, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew along with new actors coming into the franchise, Star Wars: Episode VII will open worldwide on December 18, 2015.
