*If you’re looking for another “Super Bass” or “Starships” from Nicki Minaj, then you’re in for a rude awakening.
To hear her tell it, the vibe featured on those hits will not be found on Minaj’s next studio offering, “The Pink Print.”
“The tracks on [my next album] are back to my hip-hop roots. And I don’t think it’s something that I’m necessarily trying to do,” the YMCMB femcee told MTV News while promoting her new film “The Other Woman.” “As soon as I started working on my new album, that’s just the songs that I’ve been writing,” she said, adding that not every track on the album is like “Lookin’ Ass” and “Chi-Raq.”
To hammer in her point, Minaj teased that she will have a song out next week that is “nothing like” “Starships” or “Super Bass. To put it quite simply, the entertainer has two words for any chance of her Barbiez hearing anything like the two pop hits: “Hell no.”
“I’m just gonna do what my heart tells me to do,” she said. “I went so far to the other side that there’s only one place to go from there. You can either continue doing costumes or you can just say, ‘Hey guess what? This will shock them even more. Doing nothing will shock them even more.'”
As fans wait for the release of “The Pink Print,” Minaj can be found on the big screen in “The Other Woman.” The feature, which also stars Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton, arrives in theaters on Friday.
Nicki Minaj not only speaks on her music, but her new hair style as well. She says the bee hive and all the other crazy looks are outta here! Watch:
