*Rappers need their sizzurp!
And according to TMZ, they are going through extreme measures in order to get it.
Some rappers are reportedly offering hugh sums of money — like $100,000 — for bottles of Promethazine and Codeine cough syrup.
Actavis, the makers of Phenergan-Codeine cough syrup, are apparently not happy rappers are abusing their drug for getting high. So much so it’s off the market.
And after Lil Wayne‘s seizures, it would make sense for rappers to be more cautious of abusing the cough syrup.
Although Lil Wayne’s seizures are believed to be caused by Promethazine/Codeine, he said the seizures were caused by epilepsy. Yet Promethazine/Codeine causes epileptic seizures. Hmm…
But rappers — like Soulja Boy — act like they can’t live without their sizzurp (also known as that purple drank).
Soulja Boy must have been going through withdraw. He was told he couldn’t feed his addiction. But he wouldn’t accept that.
On Instagram he posted six bottles of the cough syrup. Really… six bottles though?!
The photo below reads, “Soulja got the juice. They say the streets dry I say you gotta be kiddin me. I serve everybody.”
Justin Bieber is said to be another lover the drug. That explains a lot?
An Actavis rep said, “given [recent media attention], Actavis has made the bold and unprecedented decision to cease all production and sales of its Promethazine Codeine product.”
The cough syrup is pretty popular on the streets, but the Actavis rep said the popularity of the syrup is harmful, and it’s now off the market.
“This attention has glamorized the unlawful and dangerous use of the product, which is contrary to its approved indication.”
No word yet on exactly who, but one famous rapper allegedly offered his dealer the $100,000 to get him the cough syrup.
This is extreme because a pint bottle typically costs $800. But desperate times call for desperate measures.
Hmm… wondering who that rapper could be?
