Russell Wilson*Russell Wilson may have helped his Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl, but his current salary is far from what he could earn.

According to reports, Wilson currently pulls in $662,434 per year, a far cry from the $705,000 former Oakland Raiders signal-caller Terrelle Pryor will receive this coming season, let alone the $1.25 million Wilson’s fellow backup Tavaris Jackson will take home.

Wilson’s locked in salary comes via his rookie contract, which can’t be renegotiated until after his third season in the pros.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Wilson saw the end of his marriage to his wife Ashton. The star quarterback filed for divorce after two years of marriage to Ashton and less than three months after winning his first Super Bowl.

“I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” Wilson said. “Clearly, decisions like these don’t come easy.”

News of the divorce comes as a surprise, considering Wilson and Ashton were known for devoting time to various charities. Among those endeavors was visiting children’s hospitals often during Wilson’s Super Bowl winning season.
